Pakistan's pace sensation Shaheen Afridi has been out of the setup owing to his injury. The left-arm bowler was hurt while playing for Pakistan against England in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022 final last month in Melbourne. As a result, he is not a member of Pakistan's Test squad, which is currently competing against England in a three-match series.

Pakistan must have felt his absence in the first Test, which was hosted by the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. They lost the game by 74 runs in the final session of the fifth day, after having dominated the show earlier. During the first Test, Pakistan suffered another blow as Haris Rauf, who made his debut in the contest, was ruled out of the Test series owing to a thigh injury.

Afridi and Rauf recently attended an event where the former was questioned about his injuries. The two are currently undergoing treatment to recover on time and get back into action. The top pacer responded with a humorous answer when asked about the cause of his ailment. He can be heard stating that the evil eye is to blame for everything that is going wrong and even his fitness, in a video that has gone viral on the internet.

“Hum unfit nahi hue hai, hume nazar lag gayi hai. Inshallah! Aisi koi baat nahi nahi hai. Hum dono bohot jaldi ground me nazar ayenge. Inshallah fully fit, yeh thodi sin nazar lag gayi (We are not unfit, it’s the evil eye. There’s nothing to be worried about, and by the will of almighty Allah, both of us will be seen in action fully fit really soon. This time it was the evil eye),” Afridi said in the video.

Pakistan players gear up for second Test

Speaking of his return to international cricket, the 22-year-old said that the people need not worry about it, and affirmed that he will be back in action soon alongside Rauf. Pakistan is set to face England in the second Test of the three-match series on December 9, Friday, at the Multan Cricket Stadium. The hosts will be looking to bounce back in the series after a humiliating loss in the first match.
