Team India's captain Rohit Sharma continued his red-hot form in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 as he showed aggressive intent right from the word go. Along with his opening partner Shubman Gill, while chasing a target of 257 runs, the hosts started with attacking cricket. In the same vein, the 'Hitman' showed his power-hitting prowess during his 48-run knock, thereby missing a well-deserved fifty by a whisker.

Moreover, post his dismissal, Rohit Sharma looked quite dejected when he got back into the dressing room as he was looking ominous with the way he was playing his trademark pull shot with sheer ease. But some bowling brilliance from the youngster Hasan Mahmud, did him as he fell prey to hitting through the backward square leg side but failed to achieve enough height along with playing the hook shot fine enough to beat the Bangladesh fielder, Towhid Hridoy.

Fascinatingly, during his blazing knock Team India skipper Rohit Sharma went on to surpass legends AB de Villiers and Brian Lara for scoring the most runs in the history of the ODI World Cups. Notably, the Hitman amassed 1243 runs from 21 innings he has featured in so far in the global mega event. Not just that, the explosive Indian opener is currently leading the most runs tally.

Rohit Sharma led from the front to put Team India in command against Bangladesh

Speaking of the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 encounter between India and Bangladesh, skipper Rohit Sharma took matters into his hands and started briskly for the Men in Blue and continued his aggressive approach to keep opponents under pressure during the run chase. After Bangladesh won the toss and chose to bat first, they recovered well despite having lost wickets at regular intervals and ended up posting a decent total of 256/8. During their innings, Tanzid Hasan and Litton Das made well-deserved half-centuries to give a good start early on and then veteran Mahmudullah showed his experience and helped the Bangla Tigers to have some vital runs on the board to compete with.

In reply, after starting quite strongly Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill stitched an 88-run stand to give India an edge over the opponents. Thereafter, star batter Virat Kohli continued his rich vein of form in the game and scored a crucial half-century (50* off 48) along with scoring 26000 international runs. Currently, India are cruising well with 171/2 on the board in 27 overs. The host need 86 runs more in 23 overs to make it four in a row in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023.
