Rohit Sharma finally roared back to form by scoring a domineering century in the third One Day International (ODI) against New Zealand at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore on Tuesday, January 24. It was indeed a morale-boosting performance for the Indian skipper who was looking to scale the three-figure mark for a long time in the ODI circuit.

However, the one thing that grabbed everyone's attention was him being appreciated by his long time teammate and good friend Virat Kohli. This happened while the ‘Hitman’ was heading back to the pavilion after being dismissed by Michael Bracewell.

While coming out to bat Virat congratulated Rohit on scoring the century with a handshake and the duo also shared laughter. The image of the precious moment was posted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on their official social media handles.

Even though Rohit's splendid innings came to an end just when he looked set for a big one, it was not before the Mumbai cricketer had succeeded in puncturing the spirits of the New Zealand bowlers with his attacking shots, especially in the Powerplay overs.

The 'Hitman' made batting look easy during his 101-run knock off just 85 deliveries at a strike rate of 118.82 including nine fours and six maximums. Meanwhile, this also happened to be Rohit's 30th ton in One Day Internationals (ODIs). Notably, this was also Rohit Sharma's first ODI century after January 2020.

The Indian captain laid a solid foundation for his team adding 212 runs for the opening stand with Shubman Gill in only 26.1 overs. Gill also made the most of his purple patch scoring a 78-ball 112.

Unfortunately for the duo and India, the likes of Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan could not make the most of the start as the trio was dismissed just when it was time to accelerate in the middle overs.

The onus will now be on star all-rounder Hardik Pandya to ensure that the Men in Blue end up posting a mammoth total on the board.
