The high-octane clash between India and Pakistan was halted for some time after two score placards were thrown near the sight screen which annoyed the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma while batting in the second innings of the match.

The incident happened in the first over of the innings and it led to the game not going ahead at an expected pace. Team India bowled extremely well in the first innings of the match as they restricted Pakistan to just 159 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Arshdeep Singh and  Hardik Pandya scalped three wickets each for the Men in Blue. For Pakistan, batters Shan Masood and Iftikhar Ahmed played extremely well and completed their fifties with the bat.

Stand-in umpire Marais Erasmus had to visit the boundary rope to direct the ground staff

It was Rahul who took the strike for the first ball as he almost gave a return catch to Shaheen Afridi. The next ball, he took a single to give the strike to the Indian skipper Rohit. As Rohit was taking his stance, he stopped and asked the umpire to remove the placards. Stand-in umpire Marais Erasmus had to visit the boundary rope to direct the ground staff. The play resumed after a short delay.

Meanwhile, Arshdeep was simply excellent with the ball as he grabbed the big wicket of Babar Azam. The left-arm pacer took three wickets in his four-over quota and gave away 32 runs. "I wanted to enjoy the moment, it will never come again. The straight boundaries were big, so we tried to use them to our advantage. Tried to hit the wickets and the pads. I think we can chase this total down," he said during the mid-innings break.

For Pakistan, Masood played a good knock under pressure as he remained unbeaten till the 20th over, scoring 52 runs in 42 balls and stroking five boundaries. Apart from him, Ahmed played an impactful knock of 51 runs in just 34 balls.
