India won the second ODI match against South Africa and leveled the three-match series to 1-1 on Sunday. Reeza Hendricks and Aiden Markram scored big fifties to help the visitors to score a respectable 278/7 total while batting first. But Shreyas Iyer's unbeaten hundred was enough for India to secure an easy and big seven-wicket win with 25 balls remaining.

Iyer won the player of the match for his remarkable 113* knock but credit goes to pacer Mohammed Siraj as well. The right-arm pacer took three big wickets, including the wickets of Quinton de Kock and Reeza Hendricks, to restrict the Proteas below the 300-run mark. Siraj conceded only 38 runs from his ten-over spell, including only nine runs from the combined 48th and 50th overs. But it was not a completely happy day for the star Indian bowler.

Mohammed Siraj missed the stumps with a wild throw

He missed an easy chance to run out David Miller at the non-striker end after an embarrassing throw in the 48th over. He bowled an excellent good length delivery to Keshav Maharaj on the first ball. His next delivery, back of a length outside off, whipped past Maharaj and ended in wicketkeeper Sanju Samson's gloves comfortably.

Samson delivered the ball back to Siraj for the next one, but Siraj spotted David Miller outside the crease at the non-striker end and tried to run out the batter with a powerful throw. But he completely missed the stumps and ball went past boundary lines with no fielder placed at long-on. Siraj argued with the on-field umpires for a dead ball but it was a clear intentional throw from the Indian pacer and a four-run decision stood.

Siraj made an excellent comeback in the 50th over and bowled out Maharaj while conceding only three runs. He failed to take any wickets in the first ODI and proved costly as well but proved his worth with impressive spells in Ranchi. But Avesh Khan continues to struggle with no wickets while conceding 35 runs from his seven-over spell. Siraj and co. now travel to Delhi for the third and final ODI clash scheduled on Tuesday (October 11).
