Mumbai Indians, on May 24, absolutely decimated Lucknow Super Giants in Chennai, winning the match by 81 runs and eventually moving to Qualifier 2. The Krunal Pandya-led side meanwhile got eliminated and was brutally trolled on social media as Naveen-Ul-Haq's previous comments resurfaced. Notably, when Virat was struggling to get going against Mumbai Indians earlier in the season, the Afghan pacer shared having mangoes in front of the television screen and also posted a laughing meme video on his Instagram story after RCB got eliminated from IPL 2023 on May 21.
Thus, after LSG’s elimination, a lot of fans were posting tweets related to mangoes, in order to get back at Naveen. It eventually resulted in LSG muting the words like ‘mango’, ‘sweet’ and ‘aam’ on Twitter. The Twitter handle of the franchise shared a screenshot of the words muted by them, and stated, ‘Issued in our interest’. However, the fans are still posting images and taking a dig at the 23-year-old.
Rajasthan Royals join the party
The inaugural champions Rajasthan Royals weren’t shy to join the party either. Taking an indirect dig at Lucknow and Naveen in particular, the franchise swapped the word wickets with a mango emoticon while sharing a snapshot of Akash Madhwal's spell on their social media profile. Notably, the MI pacer was sensational against LSG, picking up five wickets and helping the team win by a comfortable margin and to laud his performance, RR changed the wicket sign to mangoes, which instantly went viral.
Meanwhile, ahead of Qualifier 2, Madhwal’s performance will boost MI’s confidence as the cricketer picked up 13 wickets in seven matches so far in the competition. Against LSG, he was adjudged Player of the Match and he also made it to the history books for bowling the joint-most economic spell in the history of the cash-rich league. After their phenomenal win over LSG in Chennai, MI will now move to Ahmedabad in order to take on Gujarat Titans for a spot in the final, which is slated to take place on May 28.
