Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) CEO Kavya Maran was over the moon after her team registered a comfortable six-wicket win against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Friday, April 5 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

Kavya, who is one of the most dedicated team owners in the Indian Premier League (IPL), is present in the stands in almost all of Hyderabad's matches. The ambitious team owner has seen a lot of ups and downs in recent years as Sunrisers Hyderabad have struggled in the last few seasons. The 2016 champions finished at the bottom of the points table in two out of the last three seasons. However, under Pat Cummins, the Sunrisers are showing signs of improvement and are currently placed at No. 5 on the table with two wins and as many losses from four games.

On Friday, Sunrisers won only their sixth match against CSK out of their 20 meetings since 2013. An ecstatic Kavya was seen applauding and shouting for her team after the memorable victory against the defending champions.

Bowlers, Abhishek Sharma power SRH to six-wicket win

Cummins won the toss and invited the Super Kings to bat. The SRH bowlers put on a disciplined show as the Chennai batters struggled to put them away. Apart from Shivam Dube (45 off 24 balls) and Ravindra Jadeja (31* off 23 balls), no other Chennai batter looked at ease in the first innings. Eventually, the five-time champions clawed their way to 165/5 in their 20 overs.

In reply, Abhishek Sharma got the Sunrisers off to a rollicking start as he smashed 37 off just 12 deliveries. Travis Head (31 off 24) played a handy knock while Aiden Markram (50 off 36 balls) notched up his first fifty in IPL 2024 AS Hyderabad won by six wickets and 11 balls to spare.
