Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) bounced back to winning ways in the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) as they beat Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Match 18 on Friday, April 05 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. After putting CSK in to bat first, SRH bowlers put on a brilliant display of bowling and restricted them to just 165/5 in their allotted 20 overs with Shivam Dube being the top scorer.

In reply, SRH comfortably chased down the target in 18.1 overs courtesy of a fiery start by openers Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head (31 off 24) and a half-century from Aiden Markram (50 off 36). As a result, the Pat Cummins-led side won the match by six wickets and climbed to the fifth spot on the points table with two wins from four matches. On the other hand, CSK maintained their position on the third spot with two wins from four matches as well.

Let’s take a look at some of the highlights from the match:

1. Shivam Dube continues to flex his muscles with brutal strokeplay

The southpaw walked in to bat after CSK openers failed to make the full use of the powerplay with the score on 54/1 after 7.1 overs. Dube wasted no time in getting set and unleashed his wrath on the bowlers right from the word go. The 30-year-old played a quick-fire knock of 45 (24) with the help of two fours and four sixes to push the run rate over 8.5.

2. Pat Cummins withdraws appeal for Obstructing the field against Ravindra Jadeja

The SRH captain withdrew the appeal for β€˜obstructing the field’ against the CSK all-rounder who unknowingly got in line of the throw by Bhuvneshwar Kumar during the second last over of the first innings. Seeing Jadeja come obstruct the throw, on-field umpires thought of going upstairs, however, captain Cummins withheld the β€˜spirit of the game’ by withdrawing the appeal.
