Skipper Rajat Patidar suffered a finger injury during Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) recent IPL 2025 (Indian Premier League) clash against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Notably, the match was held at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on 3 May.
The RCB captain was set to miss the clash against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), with Jitesh Sharma taking up the leadership responsibilities. However, the IPL was suspended for a week on 9 May amid the cross-border tension between India and Pakistan.
The 18th edition of the cash-rich league is set to resume on Saturday, 17 May, as RCB take on Kolkata Knight Riders at home. While RCB are in a fantastic position on the league table, needing just one win from their last three games to reach the playoffs, fans are concerned about Patidar's fitness and whether he has been able to use the one-week break to his advantage and recover from his finger injury.
The 31-year-old was seen with a splint to prevent his injury from aggravating. However, a recent video on social media has been circulating where Rajat Patidar can be seen batting in the RCB nets against a fast bowler. It is believed that the Madhya Pradesh batter has recovered from his injury and could be seen in action on Saturday.

RCB have registered 16 points from 11 matches, winning eight and losing just three. Patidar had a fine start to the season with the bat, as he scored 186 runs at an average of 37.20 and a strike rate of 161.73 in his first five innings. However, in the next six, he only managed 78 runs at an average of 13 and a strike rate of 100.
Notably, Bangalore started their campaign in IPL 2025 by beating KKR at the Eden Gardens in the curtain raiser. They will look to do the double over Ajinkya Rahane and Co. and book their spot in the playoffs for the fifth time in six seasons.
