Rajasthan Royals got off to a flying start in their clash against Delhi Capitals after young Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal took Khaleel Ahmed to the cleaners in the very first over of the match. Jaiswal dispatched the Delhi Capitals' pacer for five boundaries in a punishing opening over, the most expensive first over of IPL 2023.
Rajashtan, who came into the match on the back of a disappointing loss against the Punjab Kings in their previous outing, were invited to bat first on a batting-friendly surface in Guwahati by Delhi skipper David Warner. The veteran Aussie opener's decision backfired as left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed was taken for 20 runs in the first over.
Jaiswal opened his scoring with a six in the game against Punjab and he dispatched Khaleel for a boundary to open his scoring in the ongoing game against Delhi. He smashed the next two deliveries for boundaries as well, making it a hat-trick of fours. The southpaw was not done with the pacer just yet, as he added two more boundaries to his tally in the over.
Rajasthan Royals off to a flier after a swashbuckling opening stand
His senior partner, Jos Buttler, who watched the action unfold from the other end in the first over, dispatched a hat-trick of fours against Anrich Nortje to join the party. The explosive duo added 50 runs in just four overs and are threatening to propel their side to a massive total in the first innings after milking 68 runs in the powerplay. Delhi had the chance to get rid of the dangerous English opener, but Nortje could not hold onto a tough chance to dismiss Rajasthan's talisman.
