New Zealand's star batter Glenn Phillips bailed his team out from a tricky position against Sri Lanka in Super 12 encounter of the T20 World Cup 2022 on October 29. The right-handed batter completed a resounding century as the Blackcaps cross the 160-run mark in their allotted 20 overs.

Meanwhile, the Blackcaps have managed to make a strong comeback against Sri Lanka. After opting to have a bat first, the Kiwis had a horrible start with the bat as both openers Finn Allen and Devon Conway went back to the pavilion after scoring only a run each.

The situation turned bad to worse after the skipper Kane Williamson also got dismissed with the batting team reduced to 15/3 in 3.6 overs. However, Phillips and Daryl Mitchell stitched a vital partnership for their team as New Zealand reached near the 100-run mark.

Mitchell got out after scoring 22 runs, but Phillips had now activated his beast mode as he started taking on the Sri Lankan  bowlers. He completed his well-deserved century in the 19th over after hitting Maheesh Theekshana for a boundary.

His innings ended in the last over of the innings, but the damage was already done as Phillips ended his innings on 104 runs in just 64 balls and stroked ten fours and four maximums. In the end, New Zealand ended their innings on 167 runs in their allotted 20 overs after losing seven wickets. Kasun Rajitha grabbed two wickets for Sri Lanka.
