After all the memorable action against Pakistan in the opening encounter for India, the next fixture has now started against the Netherlands at the Sydney Cricket Ground in T20 World Cup 2022. India opted to bat first after winning the toss and there weren’t any changes in the playing XI from the game against Pakistan. The openers KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma as usual walked into the crease with an aim of big score to be posted.
However, the Netherlands bowlers did surprise the Indian batters with some tough lines and lengths upfront and did not give away any freebies. Trying to up the ante, Rahul was desperate to go for the boundaries and he missed a full delivery from Paul van Meekeren on the pads. It was bowled at a good pace and angled in quite considerably.
The bowler went for a huge appeal and the umpire raised his finger after thinking for a moment. Rahul and Rohit had a chat in the middle and the latter wanted the batter to take the review. However, Rahul felt that the ball was in line with the stumps and decided not to take the review. The immediate replay on the big screen looked like the ball showed immense deviation.
It was confirmed in the next over when the ball tracking showed that the delivery would miss the leg stump. The umpire’s decision was completely wrong and Rahul failed to use his review to be dismissed for 9 off 12 deliveries.

Meanwhile, India managed to come back strong after a slow start and the skipper Rohit Sharma scored a fantastic half-century. He was finally dismissed after a 39-ball 53 as the Netherlands dropped two catches of him earlier and the Dutch side failed to capitalise on India’s poor start. Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli have lifted the team to a great position and thanks to their fifties, India posted 179 runs in their 20 overs.
