Just days before India's Super 8s campaign kicks off against Afghanistan at the Kensington Oval, the Indian team faced a minor scare as Suryakumar Yadav suffered an injury during an optional net session in Barbados on June 17. However, Suryakumar shrugged off the impact and resumed batting after receiving treatment from the physiotherapist. The application of a medicinal spray (colloquially known as the 'magic spray') proved effective, allowing the Mumbai batter to complete his batting session.
With the last one of their four group-stage fixtures washed out without a ball bowled, India opted to fully engage in the optional training session as scheduled. They assembled in full force and conscientiously toiled under the scorching Bridgetown sun. Alongside the standout performer against the USA, against whom India clinched in a hard-fought contest, head coach, Rahul Dravid, was observed examining the impact of the blow and engaging in a small conversation with Suryakumar before he resumed his batting duties after receiving due attention.

During the prolonged session, reports indicated that Virat Kohli participated in an intensive batting drill lasting approximately 40 minutes. He displayed resolute determination while confronting each delivery. During brief interludes amidst his batting session, Kohli was engaged in continuous dialogue with batting coach Vikram Rathour while Dravid was observed assisting Kohli with several throwdowns.
Kohli, whose T20 World Cup 2024 campaign has been unusually lackluster thus far (scoring only five runs in three innings), would be itching to reclaim his peak form and reaffirm his status as the leading run-scorer in the tournament since his debut in the 2012 edition.
