The 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is all set to kick off on March 22. With the marquee tournament looming on the horizon, the 10 franchises will aim to put in their best performances in the competition, and plenty of eyes are set upon Lucknow Super Giants.

Ahead of the new season, there are several new additions to the Lucknow squad, most notably the young Windies pacer Shamar Joseph. Joseph burst onto the scene after his sensational spell in the Gabba victory in the recent two-match Test series against Australia

The 24-year-old was signed by Lucknow as a replacement for England pacer Mark Wood, who pulled out of the tournament due to workload management. Ahead of the tournament, LSG welcomed Shamar Joseph in style by posting a video on their X (formerly Twitter) handle.

In a clip making the rounds all over social media, Joseph was asked the WiFi password, and the star pacer replies, “Toota hai Gabba ka ghamand,” throwing back to his exceptional spell in Gabba.

LSG aim for yet another excellent season

Speaking of LSG, the side has been excellent ever since their advent in the tournament. Their campaign in the IPL 2023 was quite impressive as well. Despite some injuries in the camp, Lucknow managed to make it to the knockout stages of the IPL but failed to reach the summit clash of the competition.

Lucknow finished in third place in the standings with 17 points in 14 matches, but lost the eliminator to Mumbai Indians and crashed out of the IPL. As the IPL 2024 approaches, the team will aim to move past the playoffs hurdle and go all the way.

It is worth noting that LSG kick off their IPL 2024 campaign against Rajasthan Royals in the fourth game of the tournament at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on March 24.
