There have been many cricket pundits and fans who have shared their views on the retirement of Virat Kohli from Test cricket. This came as shocking news for all the people who hoped to see more off him in the red-ball format, marking an end to a career studded with several milestones for the Indian team since his debut in 2011.

The former Test skipper was encountered by a set of fans as he reached the Mumbai airport along with his wife Anushka Sharma. The viral clip showed a fan who seemed upset about not seeing the Delhi batter in Test cricket anymore. The fan went on to question the decision made by Virat on quitting the red-ball format. The fan also went on to say that he used to watch Test cricket only to see the legendary bat take the fierce bowling attacks in the middle.

“Hello sir, you made a mistake. Why did you retire? Now, we will never watch cricket, I will not watch cricket now. I used to watch Test matches only for you,” the fan expressed as Virat was seen stepping out of the airport with his wife Anushka.

Virat to resume IPL 2025 with an aim to win

Though the 36-year-old won't be a part of the Test team anymore as they prepare for the five-match tour to England, he will still be a part of the limited overs' set-up. He will be featuring in the remainder of IPL 2025 for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), as the tournament is now set to resume following a brief suspension of ten days.

Notably, Virat has been among the top run-scorers in the 18th season of the league so far with 505 runs in 11 innings. In the Orange Cap race, he is only behind Suryakumar Yadav, who has 510 runs for Mumbai Indians in this edition of the grand tournament. Virat will look to surpass the MI batter when he takes on Kolkata Knight Riders in the first game after resumption on May 17 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.
