Romario Shepherd plundered Khaleel Ahmed for a 33-run 19th over of the first innings during Match 52 of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Chennai Super Kings at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Shepherd raced onto 33 off nine deliveries after the over had concluded to leave the Khaleel and the CSK unit shellshocked.
The first couple of balls were carted for sixes to deep midwicket and long-off. The next delivery raced off to the boundary for a four. A juicy full-toss was clobbered for a mighty maximum on the fourth ball. The fifth delivery was dispatched for a six too. However, the ball had to be rebowled due to Khaleel's backfoot no-ball. The free hit was the only dot ball in the over. The final ball was mowed to square leg for a four, accounting for 33 off it.

Tim David took a single on the first ball of the final over. Shepherd punished Matheesha Pathirana too. Pathirana was dispatched for a couple of boundaries and as many sixes, enabling him to bring up a 14-ball fifty. The blazing knock was the joint-second-fastest fifty by a batter in the history of the IPL. The quickest fifty was scored by Yashasvi Jaiswal in the 2023 edition.
RCB ended up on 213/5 at the end of 20 overs. This was also the fourth instance for RCB wherein three players scored 50-plus scores. Jacob Bethell (55 off 33) and Virat Kohli (62 off 33) motored their way to respective half-centuries earlier in the evening. RCB were asked to bat first by MS Dhoni.
