The first innings of the match between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) was dominated by the SRH batters at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. The batters who attracted eyeballs were opener Travis Head and wicketkeeper-batter Heinrich Klaasen, who kept the runs flowing at Kotla on Sunday, May 25 in Match 68 of IPL 2025.
The openers of the Orange Army had already started with a bang, and though Sunil Narine eventually got the wicket of Abhishek Sharma, Head and Klaasen continued to play their fearless strokes to make sure the team did not lose any momentum in the first innings. The two explosive batters put on 83 off just 35 deliveries for the second wicket and eventually brought up their half-centuries as well. The KKR bowlers had no answers to the counterattack from the Hyderabad duo.
Head eventually got dismissed after a great knock of 76 off 40 deliveries, which included six fours and six maximums, and had a strike rate of 190. Klaasen went on to remain unbeaten towards the end of the innings and brought up his second IPL century in the match. Klaasen scored a 105 off just 39 deliveries. His innings included seven fours and nine sixes and had a phenomenal strike rate of 269.23. This knock put him in the record books as he became the joint third-fastest centurion in the IPL, sharing the feat with former cricketer Yusuf Pathan.

Orange Army set to get their redemption
The Hyderabad franchise ended the first innings with a score of 278-3 and will be looking to get their redemption for the last two games they have played against the defending champions. The two sides last faced each other at the Eden Gardens, where the Knight Riders emerged victorious by 80 runs after successfully defending a total of 200.
The Pat Cummins-led side also faced the Men in Purple in the finals of IPL 2024, which took place at the Chepauk. The Sunrisers were bundled out for a score of 113 and the Kolkata franchise went chased down the total in just 10.3 overs in the end.
