Former England cricketer, Sarah Taylor, announced the exciting news of being blessed with a baby boy with her partner Diana Main, on Thursday, July 6. Taylor had informed her fans about her partner’s pregnancy earlier this year in February through a social media post and stated that the delivery was expected after 19 weeks.

The day the couple had been waiting for finally arrived late in June and Taylor made the news public a week later. The 34-year-old also revealed the name of the newborn to her fans i.e. ‘Laurie’.

She took to Instagram to share the adorable picture of the newborn.

“What a week it’s been with this little boy! Welcome to the world Laurie :) 💙@dianamain_ you two are my world. So proud of you x,” Taylor wrote.

Notably, the former wicketkeeper-batter was subjected to trolling after she made her partner’s pregnancy public earlier this year. Taylor had received numerous homophobic comments on her post targeting her for her sexual orientation. The former cricketer shut the trolls with a strong message and said that every family is different.

The London-born cricketer had a successful career playing for England winning two ODI World Cups in 2009 and 2017 respectively. She was also part of England’s victorious campaign in the T20 World Cup in 2009. The right-handed batter is the third-highest run scorer for her country in WODIs having scored 4056 runs in 126 matches at an average of 38.26. She even registered seven hundreds and 20 fifties in the format.

Taylor has the second-most number of dismissals in both ODIs and T20Is

Sarah Taylor further has 90 T20I caps to her name where she scored 2177 runs at an average of 29.02 with 16 fifties. She got one of the best compliments of her career in 2018 from the legendary Australian wicketkeeper, Adam Gilchrist, when he called her the 'best wicketkeeper in the world male or female’.

Gilchrist’s comments came due to her staggering numbers as Taylor boasts of the second-most number of dismissals in women’s cricket to her name in both ODIs and T20Is. She took 85 catches and inflicted 51 stumpings with her swift handwork in 126 ODIs, while she has 23 catches and 51 stumpings in 90 T20Is. Following a remarkable career, Taylor bid adieu to the sport in September 2019 due to anxiety issues.
