Cricket as a game itself shall remember and there exists a moment that continues to shine as a testament to the sheer power and prowess of one man wielding a cricket bat. It was during the 21st match of the Inaugural T20I World Cup in 2007, set against the backdrop of South Africa's cricketing arena, that Yuvraj Singh etched his name in the sport's lore. The world watched in awe as he unleashed a barrage of sixes, an exhibition of batting brilliance that left spectators and opponents in sheer disbelief.

In the 19th over of that fateful match, bowled by England's Stuart Broad, the India all-rounder embarked on a remarkable journey. Six consecutive sixes soared off his bat, each one a thunderous proclamation of his batting prowess. But the southpaw was not content with this feat alone; he had his eyes set on history. In a mere 12 balls, he etched his name in the record books by achieving the fastest fifty in T20 International cricket.

Fast forward to September 19th 2023, as we celebrate the 16th Anniversary of this unforgettable cricketing spectacle, a sand artist by the name of Fr. Christy Valiyaveettil has paid tribute to this iconic moment. With intricate precision, he recreated the magic of the 41-year-old's six sixes through the mesmerising medium of sand art. The Man of the Tournament of 2011 World Cup himself, deeply moved by this gesture, shared the artwork on his Instagram account, expressing his gratitude with the caption,

“Thank you for this lovely sand art @christy_sandartist12. Even though you created this for my birthday, today is also an apt occasion for me to share it. #16Years #SixSixes.”

Moments that led to an absolute carnage in the 2007 T20 World Cup

Yet, amidst the glory and celebration, there is a tale of fiery confrontation that added fuel to Yuvraj's remarkable innings. In the very same match against England, he found himself engaged in a verbal duel with former England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff. The exchange of words was nothing short of heated, and it lit a fire within ‘Yuvi’ that would leave an indelible mark on the match.

In the over preceding the historic six-sixes over, the Chandigarh born had struck Flintoff for two boundaries. The all-rounder from England, unimpressed by the aggression, let his frustrations be known with a chilling threat, declaring that he would "cut [Yuvraj's] throat off." Yuvraj, however, was not one to back down from a challenge, responding with a fiery retort that resonates in cricketing lore to this day: "you see this bat in my hand? You know where I am gonna hit you with this bat?"
