Sonia Gandhi showers her blessings for the India Under-19 team

From the political fraternity, Sonia Gandhi also applauded India’s victorious campaign in the prestigious tournament in a recent interaction with the media. “The nation’s rich cricketing tradition had yet again been upheld and it’s a matter of satisfaction that the young boys showed great promise of carrying forward the legacy,” the UPA Chairperson mentioned.

An unbeaten run for India

The Boys in Blue started their campaign with a stupendous victory against Australia. Subsequently, they carried forward their form to their remaining couple of league games against Papua New Guinea and Zimbabwe. After topping the league table, they rolled over Bangladesh in the Quarter-Final. Thereafter, they humbled arch-rivals Pakistan in what turned out to be a one-sided affair.

India came into the Final with a superior record in Under-19 World Cups against Australia. The bunch of vibrant cricketers didn’t disappoint and thumped the Aussie by eight wickets. The bowlers strangled their opponents following which their batsmen went on a rampage and traced down the target for India. Meanwhile, they also overhauled Australia as the team with most number of Under-19 World Cup victories.
