The third One Day International between India and South Africa will be played tomorrow at Cape Town. The South African team failed miserably disappointing their fans and trail in the series by 0-2 while suffering from a few injury woes including those to skipper Faf du Plessis and Quinton de Kock, both of whom have been ruled out of the series. However, their veteran batsman AB de Villiers will join the side in the 4th ODI.

South Africa will have to win in the 3rd ODI against India to keep their series hopes alive in the six-match series. The Proteas batsmen have particularly struggled against the Indian wrist spinners. They had no clue how to deal with the duo of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav in the first two ODIs. Keeping these concerns in mind, they decided to train with as many as five spinners in the nets.

The teams’ performance is unacceptable: Rabada

Leggie Chahal and chinaman Yadav have wreaked havoc in the series, picking 13 wickets in the first two matches. Hence, to combat this challenge, the South African batsmen decided to train against the spinners in the net session. Moreover, all the five spinners who were called to bowl at the nets were wrist spinners.

Also, pacer Kagiso Rabada termed the team’s performance as unacceptable. “It’s not acceptable at all. India is a strong team. They’ve just beaten Australia (at home) comprehensively. I know they’ve been playing all their games at home, but they’ve been playing good cricket,” said Rabada.

He said that the team hasn’t been in the best of forms since the Champions Trophy. “It doesn’t help that we have been going through a few changes and not been in the best form since the Champions Trophy in one-day cricket. We are still trying to catch up at the moment,” he added.

With all this stern preparation, South Africa will be hoping it will help their struggling batsmen combat the combined threat of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav.
