AB de Villiers pummelled the Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) bowling attack on 18th April 2021. In a stunning masterclass, the South African batting colossus blasted a murderous 76* off just 34 deliveries to power his side to a 38-run victory over the Eoin Morgan-led side.

After de Villiers’ incredible knock, sprint legend Yohan Blake has offered his opinion on the batting legend. It is a known fact that Blake is a lover of cricket and avidly follows the sport.

Blake tweeted that de Villiers is a player at a different level. The athlete also added in his tweet that South Africa still needs the services of de Villiers.

“If there is no space for me, so be it,” says de Villiers

AB de Villiers also revealed on 18th April 2021 that he had a conversation with South Africa’s Head Coach Mark Boucher. Stating that it would be fantastic if he can find a place in the South African side, the 37-year-old also added that he will have a chat with Boucher towards the end of the IPL. The RCB batsman concluded by stating that if he does not find a place in the South African side, he is fine with it.

“We are lined up to have a chat sometime during the IPL. But yes, we’ve been talking about it already. If there’s no space for me, so be it. If I can slot in there, it will be fantastic if all those things fall in place. Waiting for (the chat with) Bouchy towards the end of the IPL, and we will then plan accordingly,” said de Villiers in the post-match press conference.

Earlier, Boucher had stated that he had spoken to de Villiers about the latter’s return to the South African side. Boucher added that de Villiers wanted to prove that he is still a key player in world cricket and can still dominate at the highest level.

“I did chat to him before he went to the IPL. The conversation is still very much open. AB being the person he is, he wanted to perform very well at the IPL, to prove to himself and everyone else that he is still a very key figure in world cricket and could dominate at that level,” concluded Boucher.
