With the series nicely poised at 1-1 after two games, South Africa and Pakistan head into the third ODI in an attempt to claim a lead. Pakistan played out of their skin when no one even gave them a chance and registered a five-wicket win in the first ODI. Imam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Hafeez steered the Men in Green to this brilliant victory.

But, as usual, the inconsistencies again popped up when the side took the field in the second ODI. They were down to 112/8 at one stage before there was a fightback. 203 was an easy chase for South Africa with Rassie van der Dussen and Andile Phehlukwayo pulling off match-winning performances to level the series. One team hasn’t completely dominated the other in this format of the game thus far in the series. Hence, there is a great game of cricket on the cards when the teams will take the field at Centurion.

Pitch and Conditions

The SuperSport Park in Centurion is tailor-made for the chasing team. The last four out of five games at the venue were won by the team batting second. The track usually quickens up and plays much better under the lights. If you’re batting first, a big score is essential. It will be a cloudy day with the temperatures between 24C and 30C. There is a prediction of scattered thunderstorms during the night.

Team Combinations

South Africa

Quinton de Kock is back in the Proteas set-up along with speedster Dale Steyn. Duanne Olivier will be the man making way for Steyn while it will be Heinrich Klassen out for de Kock. Rassie van der Dussen, with the kind of form he has been in, is expected to make it into the eleven. It will be either one among Reeza Hendricks or Aiden Markram who will get in at four. Beuran Hendricks might get an opportunity in the eleven.

Predicted XI: Hashim Amla, Quinton de Kock (WK), Rassie van der Dussen, Reeza Hendricks/Aiden Markram, Faf du Plessis (C), David Miller, Andile Phehlukwayo, Beuran Hendricks, Kagiso Rabada, Imran Tahir, Dale Steyn.

Pakistan

Pakistan is expected to field pretty much the same eleven from the last match. Imam will open the innings with Fakhar and Babar Azam will follow up next at number three. Mohammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik will take the all-rounder spots. Instead of Imad Wasim, they might go for Hussain Talat or Mohammad Amir. Furthermore, Shoaib Malik is expected to lead the side as the regular skipper Sarfraz Ahmed could be suspended due to his recent controversial racist remarks.

Predicted XI: Imam ul Haq, Fakhar Zaman, Babar Azam, Mohammad Hafeez, Shoaib Malik, Sarfraz Ahmed (c & wk)/Mohammad Rizwan, Shadab Khan, Hussain Talat/Mohammad Amir, Faheem Ashraf, Hasan Ali, Shaheen Afridi.
