South Africa took a 2-0 lead in the 5-match ODI series against Sri Lanka with a huge 113-run win in the 2nd ODI in Centurion. Quinton de Kock smashed 17 fours and a six during his breezy 70-ball 94 while Faf du Plessis scored 57 as the hosts were 220/5 in 37th over. The Sri Lankan bowlers pulled the things back to restrict the Proteas to 251. In the chase, Sri Lanka were placed at 92/3 in the 20th over before a run-out trigged a collapse as they lost their last seven wickets for 46 runs.

Faf equals a 100-year-old record:

7 – Faf du Plessis has scored at least one fifty-plus score in each of his previous seven International matches starting from the 3rd ODI against Pakistan. He became only the 2nd South African to score 50+ in seven consecutive International matches. Aubrey Faulkner had a fifty-plus score in seven consecutive Tests between 1910 and 1912.


De Kock @ 2000 in home ODIs:

37 – Quinton de Kock completed 2000 ODI runs in South Africa in only 37 innings; the fewest by any player for 2000 ODI runs in South Africa. Hashim Amla got to this milestone in 38 innings and was the fastest before De Kock.

Overall, the keeper-batsman is the 2nd fastest to 2000 runs in a country. Desmond Haynes completed 2000 ODI runs in the Caribbean Islands in only 36 innings.


17 – Quinton de Kock now has batted 17 consecutive ODI innings without a century; the longest hundred-less streak for him in this format. The score of 94 is also the first fifty in nine innings for De Kock at the SuperSport Park in Centurion as he went on to score a century on the previous four instances after crossing 50 at this venue.


Rabada’s milestone wickets:

23y 285d – At the age of 23 years and 285 days, Kagiso Rabada became only the 3rd youngest player to claim 300 wickets in International cricket. Only Pakistan’s Waqar Younis (22y 117d) and Saqlain Mushtaq (22y 164d) were younger to Rabada by the time they claimed their 300th International scalp. Among South Africans, the youngest to 300 International wickets before Rabada was Shaun Pollock (26y 223d) in 2000.


23y 285d – Rabada also became the 14th youngest player to claim 100 wickets in ODI cricket and the youngest South African to the milestone. Prior to Kagiso, no player from South Africa bagged 100 ODI wickets before turning 25. Jacques Kallis was the previous youngest reached it at the age of 25 years and 16 days.


64 – Matches Rabada needed for his 100th wicket in ODI cricket; the joint 3rd fewest for a South African. Imran Tahir and Morne Morkel bagged their 100th ODI wicket from 58 and 59 games respectively while Allan Donald also got his 100th ODI wicket in his 64th match.


Du Plessis @ 5000:

125 – Faf du Plessis completed 5000 runs in ODI cricket in 125 innings; the 10th fewest by any player. He is the 3rd quickest among South Africans behind Hashim Amla (101) and AB de Villiers (124) to this milestone.
