Two months ago, Cricket South Africa came up with its new T20 league called the Global Destination League. Brendon McCullum, Chris Gayle and Kevin Pietersen are among eight international players who have so far confirmed their availability for the league.

In February, CSA announced its plans for the new Twenty20 league. The purpose behind it is to compete with other popular domestic T20 leagues like the Big Bash League and Indian Premier League.

Seems like the new league may just become as popular as its Australian and Indian counterpart, for many star players have agreed to play for it. Apart from McCullum, Gayle and Pietersen, other cricketing biggies to play the league are Dwayne Bravo, Eoin Morgan, Lasith Malinga, Kieron Pollard and Jason Roy.

The franchises will then bid for these big guns from around the cricketing globe. CSA also confirmed that every franchise will play at least one South Africa marquee player.

Pietersen, since his sacking from England 3 years ago, has evolved as a T20 specialist and has been active in several T20 leagues around the world like IPL, PSL and BBL. Once again, he is ready to play the shortest format of the game based on franchise system and is excited to be taking part in the tournament.

“I am delighted to have signed for the new Global Destination T20 tournament in South Africa,” he said.

“South Africa, as everyone knows, is very close to my heart, so being a part of something innovative in their cricketing structure really excites me.”

Meanwhile, the Kiwi batsman McCullum who is currently playing for the Gujarat Lions in the IPL said that he enjoys the playing conditions in South Africa and is looking forward to it.

“I very much enjoy the conditions in South Africa and it was an easy decision to make myself available for this tournament.”

After BBL and IPL, the PSL, which completed two seasons last month, has also gained a lot of global popularity and with yet another T20 league coming up with a lot of big names, the fans of the shortest format of the game will have more to cheer about.
