Sri Lanka is scheduled to play a two-match Test series in Pakistan starting from 11 December. It will also end a decade-long drought of Test cricket in Pakistan. However, the priority for PCB will be the security of Islanders when they will host them. According to recent developments, Sri Lanka players will get a VVIP security when they will land in Pakistan till the series is concluded.

This will be the first occasion when any country will travel to Pakistan for playing Test match series. After a tragic attack on Sri Lanka’s team back in 2009, every country cut their cricketing ties with Pakistan. It will turn out to be a major breakthrough for PCB in their quest to bring back Test cricket back in the country.

Sri Lanka cricket team will be guarded by commandos

The tour will begin with the first Test at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi from December 11 and Islamabad Capital Territory Police will provide them with VVIP level security wherever they will travel during the series.

As per the reports of Daily Mirror, this decision was taken in a meeting that was chaired by  Inspector General Police, Muhammad Aamir Zulfiqar Khan. The attendees also reviewed the security arrangements being done for the visiting team. They also came onto the conclusion that the commandos will be deployed around Sri Lanka team.

As far as the security plan is concerned, the security personnel will not allow any irrelevant or unknown person from meeting Sri Lankan players. Moreover, people will get entry through one gate into the hotel where the Islanders will going to reside. Even the security officials have also contacted different security agencies in order to get more enforcement.

Another meeting was held that was chaired by deputy commissioner Rawalpindi Captain (R) Saqib Zafar in order to ensure that the security which will be provided to Sri Lanka cricket team is full proof. However, Rawalpindi will be on red alert from December 7 to 15th with Rawalpindi Food Street, Arts Council, Sports Complex and Stadium Road to be closed for eight days. Even the offices, hotels, shopping malls will also be shut down in order to reduce the traffic in the city during the Test match.
