Less than a week after smashing the highest total in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), the Rangpur Riders have produced a record stand to defeat the Dhaka Dynamites. Chasing a target of 187, Rangpur lost wickets of Chris Gayle and Rilee Rossouw for just five runs on the board. Alex Hales, who scored a century along with Rossouw on Friday, once again looked in great touch.
AB de Villiers, who walked out to bat, began by taking on the opposition bowlers in the powerplay. The former South Africa International raced to an 8-ball 28 before building the chase. With regular boundaries, the duo kept the defending champions ahead of the required rate as they completed the chase with 10 balls to spare. De Villiers scored an unbeaten 50-ball 100 while Hales scored 85* off 53.
