After being dropped from the Indian limited-overs squads, both Ajinkya Rahane and Shreyas Iyer have been amongst runs in the Vijay Hazare Trophy for Mumbai. In the first game against Baroda, Rahane (79*) and Iyer (56*) put on an unbeaten 102-run stand after Prithvi Shaw’s 66-ball 98-run blitz during the chase. In the second game against Karnataka, at the batting paradise of the Chinnaswamy Stadium, the duo scored centuries as Mumbai finished with a record total of 362/5 in their 50 overs.

Shaw scored a quick-fire 53-ball 60 to share a 106-run opening stand with his skipper Rahane. The runs started to flow for the Domestic giants with Iyer’s arrival as both added 216 for the second wicket in only 171 balls. Rahane was dismissed for a magnificent 150-ball 148 while Iyer scored 110 only in 82 deliveries with the help of eight massive sixes.

All the major stats and numbers recorded during Mumbai’s innings against Karnataka:

8 – Shreyas Iyer hit as many as eight sixes during his century which are the 2nd most by any player in a List A game at Chinnaswamy Stadium. Rohit Sharma had hit 16 maximums during his 209 against Australia in 2013. A total of five players have smacked seven sixes in a List A innings at this venue.

8 – Iyer’s eight sixes are also the joint 2nd most by a Mumbai player in a List game. Siddharth Chitnis hit ten sixes during the 2010/11 game against Maharashtra while Ajinkya Rahane had also smashed eight against Maharashtra in 2008 when he scored a record 187.

The eight sixes are the most by any player in a List A game against Karnataka. Shubman Gill was the record holder earlier with six hits over the ropes during his unbeaten 123 for Punjab earlier this year.

81 – Runs conceded by Abhimanyu Mithun in his ten overs including the wicket of Iyer. No bowler had earlier conceded 80 or more runs in a List A game before Mithun while playing for Karnataka.

148 – Ajinkya Rahane’s 148-run knock is the highest individual score in List A cricket by any player against Karnataka. The previous highest against them was 141 by Ishank Jaggi for Jharkhand in the Vijay Hazare Semis in 2014.

216 – Rahane and Iyer’s partnership of 216 is the highest stand for any wicket in the List A cricket for Mumbai. They surpassed the unbeaten 213-run stand between JV Paranjpe and AA Muzumdar for the third wicket against Gujarat in 1999/00. It is also Mumbai’s first double century stand for the second wicket in this format.

216 – The partnership of 216 between Rahane and Iyer is the first-ever double-century stand in List A cricket against Karnataka. The previous highest partnership by any pair against them was 176 by Hyderabad’s Mohammad Azharuddin and D Vinay Kumar for the 3rd wicket in 1999/00.

216 – The second-wicket stand of 216 is the second highest partnership for any wicket in List A cricket at the Chinnaswamy stadium. Australia’s Aaron Finch and David Warner shared 231 runs for the opening wicket in the last year’s ODI game against India.

362/5 – Mumbai’s total of 362/5 is the first ever 350+ total conceded by Karnataka in List A format. The previous highest they ever conceded in this format was 318/8 to Goa in the 2012/13 but chased it down with 21 balls to spare.
