England’s sensational batting performances since the 2015 World Cup continued in the ODI format as they registered their 4th score of 400+ in this format on Wednesday. England had an opening stand of 100 runs coming in only 13.5 overs but were soon reduced to 165/3 in 25.5 overs. Skipper Eoin Morgan and Jos Buttler built the innings before going ballistic in the last ten overs.

At a point of time, Buttler hit 48 runs from ten consecutive deliveries and raced to a 60-ball century from 45* off 44 balls. He got out in the final over but not before scoring a 77-ball 150 with 12 sixes. Morgan scored an 88-ball 103 as the duo shared a 204-run stand in 20.2 overs for the 4th wicket. England scored as many as 154 runs were in the last ten overs to finish on 418/6.

Here are all the major stats and numbers recorded during England’s innings:

4 – Number of centuries Jos Buttler has reached in less than 70 deliveries in the ODI format; the joint 2nd most such hundreds for any player. AB de Villiers completed his ODI centuries in less than 70 balls on six occasions while Shahid Afridi and Virender Sehwag also have four such knocks.

10.03 – The run-rate during the 204-run partnership between Buttler and Eoin Morgan. No other ODI partnership of 200+ runs had a run-rate of nine or more runs per over.

12 – Jos Buttler became the first England player to hit ten or more sixes in an ODI. The previous highest number of sixes in an ODI for England was 8 each by Buttler and Moeen Ali against Pakistan (in 2015) and Windies (in 2017) respectively.

24 – Number of sixes England batsmen hit during their innings; the most by any team in an ODI inning. They surpassed the 23 sixes hit by the Windies during the first ODI of this series against them.

76 – Balls Jos Buttler needed for completing his 150-run mark; the 2nd fastest individual 150 in ODI cricket. AB de Villiers brought up his 150 in only 64 deliveries during the CWC15 game also against the Windies.

150 – Buttler became the first England wicket-keeper to score a 150 in the ODI format. Buttler now has the top four highest ODI scores as an England keeper. The previous highest was the 129-run knock in the 2015 Birmingham ODI against New Zealand.

150 – Buttler is also the first England player with an ODI 150-run knock while batting outside the top three in the batting order. All the previous eight 150+ scores for England in ODIs were recorded by the players who batted in the top three only.

154 – Runs scored by England in their last ten overs; the 2nd most by any team in their final ten overs of an ODI inning. South Africa scored 163 runs during the 2015 CWC match also against the Windies.

280 – England innings scored 280 runs through boundaries in their innings with 24 sixes and 34 fours being hit. These are the 2nd most number of runs in an ODI coming via boundaries for a team.

It is only behind the 290 runs scored by them during the last year’s Nottingham ODI against Australia in which they recorded the highest ODI total of 481/6.
