Stats: Experience of Windies ODI squad vs Indian ODI squad

Team India has of late preferred to tour West Indies for bilateral series’ to test out their bench strength but this time they will be going to the Caribbean Islands along with the big names Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh. This ensured the Indian star players alone have more experience than the total of the Windies’ squad combined.

The 13-men squad announced by Cricket Windies has a debutant Kesrick Williams but the remaining 12 players collectively have featured in only 213 ODI matches. Interesting, Yuvraj Singh has played 301 ODIs while MS Dhoni 291, about 75 games more than the aggregate of Windies’ entire unit so far.

All these 12 players have collectively scored 3630 runs in this format while Dhoni alone has over 9000 ODI runs to his name while Virat Kohli and Yuvraj have scored over 8000 runs in the 50-over format, which is more than twice of what the Caribbean side has on its name. Even opener Shikhar Dhawan with 3428 runs, isn’t far behind the Windies squad.

Their squad has managed to score two centuries in ODI format; only 25 behind Kohli. Yuvraj, Dhoni and Dhawan also have struck more than 10 ODI tons each. It would have been more embarrassing for the Windies had Rohit Sharma featured in this series as he has scored double centuries equal to what the 12 Windies players have managed thus far in ODIs.

Talking about bowling department, the host bowlers have shared 145 wickets among them, one less than Ravichandran Ashwin’s ODI tally. Ravindra Jadeja has 10 more wickets than the dismissals the Windies’ squad has managed in this format.

Considering the numbers on the Caribbean soil alone, Indians aren’t far behind the home side as they lead them in the tally for the centuries and lag just 79 runs behind in overall aggregate runs of the squad.
