Kedar Jadhav, who struck the 5th fastest ODI century recently for India during the ODI series against England at home, carried his explosive form into the domestic 50-over competition, the Vijay Hazare Trophy and scored a 57-ball century for his side Maharashtra against Delhi at Cuttack. The quick-fire ton from the pocket dynamite was the 4th fastest List A century by an Indian.

Jadhav came into this game with a 48-ball 71 with 5 fours and 5 sixes vs Kerala a couple of days ago. After Delhi elected to bowl first, the Maharashtra captain came out to bat with his side 2 down for 79 in 18th over. He started the acceleration from the moment he arrived at the crease as he brought up his fifty in just 23 balls smashing the likes of Manan Sharma and Pawan Negi.

He scored 75 runs out of the 113 he scored during the knock against the two spinners and got those in just 32 balls. He brought up his ton in 57 balls and eventually fell to Negi after a 64-ball 113 which included 8 sixes and 11 fours.

The fastest List A century by an Indian is on the name of Yusuf Pathan who he recorded it in 2010 at Ahmedabad off just 40 balls against Maharashtra. Yusuf’s century was, in fact, the 4th fastest List A century in the world. Virat Kohli’s 52-ball century vs Australia in 2013 is not only the fastest ODI century by an Indian but also the 2nd fastest List A century by an India batsman.

Way back in 1995, Sachin Tendulkar got to his hundred in just 54 balls for Wills’ XI in the quarterfinal of Wills Trophy against Hyderabad; that is the 3rd fastest List ton by an Indian. Tendulkar held the record for the fastest List A ton by an Indian for 15 years before Yusuf broke it with a special knock and even Kohli surpassing Sachin’s feat eventually.

Jadhav’s century is also the 2nd fastest in the Vijay Hazare Trophy history (Inter-State One-dayers) as his hundred stands only behind Yusuf’s 40-ball ton.
