The Birmingham Test match turned out to be yet another Test for where Virat Kohli’s performance couldn’t help India register a win away from home. Kohli scored 149 and 51 respectively in the first of the 5-match Test series but the other ten batsmen accumulated for only 214 runs across both the innings as they lost the match by 31 runs. Kohli now has scored 15 centuries in Test cricket as Indian captain with five of them ending in a losing cause.
Starting from Virat Kohli’s captaincy debut in the Adelaide Test in 2014 where he scored twin tons but couldn’t take India over the winning line as he had no support from the other end in the final session. The Birmingham Test is the 9th time Kohli has scored over 200 runs while leading the team in Test cricket; the most times by any player.
