Stats: Trinbago Knight Riders win a high-scoring thriller against St Lucia Stars

The Trinbago Knight Riders pulled off a famous win while chasing a big score against St Lucia Stars at the Darren Sammy Stadium on Thursday. The home team posted 212/2 in their 20 overs as David Warner (72*) and Rakheem Cornwall (53) scored fifties before Kieron Pollard gave the innings his finishing touch with an unbeaten 65 off 23 balls. Pollard, the St Lucia skipper, scored an 18-ball fifty to help his team score 70 runs in the last 21 deliveries.

TKR’s chances nearly dried up when they needed 92 off 32 balls but Darren Bravo’s sensational batting snatched a victory from St Lucia’s hands. They made 77 runs in the next 20 balls as Bravo hit ten sixes in the next 15 balls he faced. He finished unbeaten on 94 off 36 balls while Brendon McCullum’s support with a 42-ball 68 helped the Knight Riders chase down the target with five wickets to spare in the final over.

3 – The 2018 CPL has witnessed top three totals in the history of the tournament. The highest CPL total before this season was 212/5 by Guyana Amazon Warriors in 2014 against Antigua Hawksbills. Jamaica Tallawahs (225/6) chased down Trinbago Knight Riders’ total of 223/6 last week.

3 – This game is only the 3rd in the history of Twenty20 cricket where five different batsmen scored fifties. Previous two occasions when five batsmen scored fifties in a T20 were recorded in 2011.

The semi-final game between Titans and Cape Cobras in the South African Domestic T20 and the Zimbabwe domestic T20 game between Mid West Rhinos and Mashonaland Eagles were those instances.

4 – Kieron Pollard now has scored four fifties in Twenty20 cricket in 18 and fewer balls. He holds the record for scoring most number of T20 fifties in 18 and fewer deliveries. Chris Gayle, Colin Munro and Brendon McCullum have three fifties in 18 balls in Twenty20 format.

4 – Darren Bravo struck four consecutive sixes in the 16th over bowled by Kieron Pollard. He became only the 2nd player to hit four sixes in a row in an over in the CPL. Denesh Ramdin his four in a row off Shahid Afridi in the 2015 season.

10 – Darren Bravo became only the 4th player to hit ten and more sixes in a CPL innings after Chris Gayle, Andre Russell and Evin Lewis.

18 – Kieron Pollard’s 18-ball fifty in this game is the joint fastest fifty in the Caribbean Premier League. He equalled Sohail Tanvir’s record of 18-ball fifty for St Lucia Zouks against Barbados Tridents in 2014.

32 – Darren Bravo hit 32 runs in Kieron Pollard’s 16th over (6, 6, 6, 6, 2, 6) which is the 2nd most runs scored in an over in the CPL. A total of 33 runs came in the over bowled by SKN Patriots’ Shahid Afridi in 2015. The TKR batsmen Darren Bravo and Delport hit six sixes (6, Nb+1, 6, 6, 1+W, 6, 6) in that over.

34 – The 34 sixes hit in this match are the joint most in any Twenty20 game. As many as 34 sixes were hit during the Super Smash game between Central Districts and Otago in 2016.
