Steve Smith just cannot live without his bat and he pretty much proved it with a hilarious response while interacting with his fans on Instagram. Just like most of the cricket stars, the Australia star is also currently sitting at home in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. Last week, he played the first ODI against New Zealand before the series was called off.

The forthcoming T20I series between Australia and New Zealand was called off too. All the major cricket series and tournaments have been canceled or postponed and there is absolutely no clarity over when will they resume. Smith would have been in India soon for the Indian Premier League but it has been postponed too till April 15.

Some other major series that were called off are the ODI series between India and South Africa and the Test series between Sri Lanka and England. So with not much to do, Smith decided to have some fun on Instagram. The former Australia skipper held a Question-Answer session on the social media platform. And one of his followers asked him: “Steve, are u shadow batting?”

In reply, the Australia star hilariously posted a picture of himself with a bat and wrote, “Always”

A stellar comeback to cricket by Steve Smith

After serving a one-year ban for his involvement in the ball-tampering scandal, Steve Smith returned to international cricket last summer. After helping Australia make it to the semifinal of the World Cup, he took the Ashes by storm. In his comeback Test, he scored centuries in both the innings to help his side take the lead in the five-match series.

Australia had gone on to finish the series at 2-2 and retained the Ashes in the UK for the first time since 2001. Smith was their standout star with the bat as he finished the series as the highest run-scorer. He scored 774 runs in 4 Tests (7 innings) at an average of 110.57 including a double hundred, 2 more hundreds and 3 fifties.

He could not replicate the same form in Tests in the home summer but Australia still managed to win all the five Tests. Smith, however, has been in stunning form in ODIs in recent times.
