Team Australia are piling on the agony for the visiting English side in the ongoing Ashes series. Needless to concede, their skipper Steve Smith is the happiest man in the dressing room at the moment. But the Australian captain did have his heart in his mouth when Mitchell Marsh racked up a ton in the final Test at Sydney. Well, that does sound a little absurd but is absolutely true.

The action perspired on the penultimate day of the Sydney Test. All-rounder Mitchell Marsh, who has been in the form of his life, brought up his second ton of the Ashes this year. The moment he reached the milestone, he had a little friendly shoulder barge with his brother Shaun Marsh, who was at the other end of the crease. The Marsh brothers celebrated the occasion in style with a hug midway through the century run of Mitch Marsh.

The Australian balcony rose up to laud the knock played by the junior Marsh. Among the lot, there was the Australian skipper Steve Smith too. Smith, however, lost his emotions and thought that the friendly hug on the pitch could see either of the Marsh brothers get run out. He got hilariously animated as he gestured the two players to complete the run first before they start celebrating the occasion.

Marsh brothers steamroll the English bowlers

Earlier in the game, team Australia had assumed the dominant position after Usman Khawaja scored 171. The Marsh brothers, Shaun and Mitchell, joined hands after the dismissal of Khawaja. The duo then went on to add 169 runs for the fifth wicket. In the process, both managed to rack up their individual hundreds. While Shaun played his conventional Test knock, Mitch was on the charge right from the word go.

Shaun Marsh went on to score 156 off291 deliveries with 18 boundaries to his name. Meanwhile, Mitchell Marsh scored 101 off just 141 deliveries with 15 fours and 2 sixes. The partnership was broken when Mitch Marsh was cleaned up by Tom Curran.
