Suchith finds place in Karnataka squad to play Bangladesh A: Jagadeesha Suchith has been included in a potentially under strength Karnataka squad to play the touring Bangladesh A in the upcoming 3 day game. The preparatory camp of the BCCI ahead of the South Africa series has meant prominent Karnataka players KL Rahul, Stuart Binny, Manish Pandey and Karun Nair miss out.
The side still has plenty of firepower with Robin Uthappa and Mayank Agarwal set to offer their services. Wicket keeper batsman CM Gautam will also lend solidity to the side. Suchith, who was the leading wicket taker in last year’s Karnataka Premier League also performed exceedingly well this year but was not able to take Mysuru Warriors far in the tournament.
Recently Suchit became the only bowler to take 10 or more wickets in two editions of the Karnataka Premier League (KPL). He is no mug with the bat either as he recently showed hammering the fastest ever KPL 50 in just 15 balls against the Bijapur Bulls which involved 6 hits over the fence. It was also the joint fastest fifty on Indian soil. The record was previously held by Yusuf Pathan who also hit a 15 ball fifty at the Eden Gardens against Sunrisers Hyderabad last year.
Suchith started his cricketing career in Mysuru at a small age with Mysuru University Cricket Sports Club under the guidance Mansoor Khan. Later at the age of 13 when took up the game seriously he shifted to Gymkhana cricket team which is the oldest cricket camp of Mysuru. Gymkhana which is also known for contributing players such as Javagal Srinath shaped up the budding talent.
It was former Ranji cricketer Ravindra who guided him to become an effective bowler. At a major platform, he made his debut at the age of 12 and represented Mysuru zone in U-13 championship. Impressing by his performances the left arm spinner evolved to the greater heights and also ensured his consistency by working hard on his game. Suchith was a vital member of the Mumbai Indians unit last and contributed substantially in their journey to the memorable title win.
Bangladesh A are currently facing India A in a three-match one-day series and will take on the nation’s domestic champions in 3 day match starting September 22 in Mysuru.
