Veteran Indian cricketer Suresh Raina is all set to make a comeback to the Indian side after a gap of over a year. Raina will be joining the T20I national squad for the 3-match series against South Africa. As he joins the national side again, Raina recently showered praises on the Indian captain Virat Kohli. Team India registered a historic series win in the ongoing ODI series recently.

The chief architect with the bat for the Men in Blue was Virat Kohli. He has already hit three centuries on the tour, which includes two in the limited overs. Amidst this backdrop, Suresh Raina went on to quote that the Indian captain could pretty well be the Man of the Tournament in the ICC World Cup 2019. Virat is having the time of his life with the bat. His form across the three forms of the game has been magical.

For the stats, Virat Kohli is the only cricketer to average over 50 in every format of the game. Raina recalled that the defeat in the finals of the ICC Champions Trophy in 2017 still hurts the Indian skipper. The pain of the defeat was very much visible in his eyes back then. And that defeat is sure to fire him up even more at the World Cup next year.

“Virat Kohli is very hungry – hunger is there in his eyes. His fitness has been remarkable. Every time he rotates the strike – whenever he gets the loose balls, he looks to punish them. He is the best in the world, no doubt about it. He wants to win the World Cup very badly – probably in England, he will be the man of the tournament,” Suresh Raina quoted as per the quotes in India Today.

On his personal form

Commenting on his own form, Suresh Raina remarked that his best is yet to come. All he need to do is spend time at the crease and the runs will certainly start to flow yet again. He is optimistic of a good show in South Africa. “My peak is yet to come, my time will start from here on. Still timing the ball really well, have a few good bats. Need to be patient to bat at No.4,” Raina conceded.
