Mumbai made an interesting start to the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament as they posted a record-breaking 258/4 total against Sikkim to defeat by a huge 154-run margin. In the 2nd game against Punjab, as many as six Mumbai players bagged a duck and were restricted to only 155 which was enough for a victory. Suryakumar Yadav and Shreyas Iyer have been only performing batsmen for them so far.
Skipper Rahane was dismissed for single digits in both the games while the comeback man Prithvi Shaw too failed to make an impact thus far. They will now face the hosts Madhya Pradesh. They started the tournament with a big 34-run win over Punjab. However, they were thumped to a 5-wicket defeat in the 2nd game against Saurashtra following a batting failure.
The Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy 2018-19 match between Madhya Pradesh and Mumbai will be played at the Holkar Stadium in Indore.

The last year has been a great one for Suryakumar Yadav especially in the T20 format. Mumbai Indians pushing him up the order during the IPL is also one of the reasons for it. Surya has scored seven of his nine T20 fifties since the start of 2018. In the 24 T20 matches Surya played in this period, he scored 872 runs at an average of 43.6 including a career best of 80 in the previous match against Punjab.
