It was a day of brilliant comebacks at the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on Sunday. While Kerala delivered a brilliant performance in a rain-marred game, Prithvi Shaw announced his arrival in style with a half-century in his comeback game having served a 12-month suspension.

Mumbai batted first against Assam and put up a massive 206 runs on the board, with comeback man Prithvi Shaw and Aditya Tare registering half-centuries. Shivam Dube and Shams Mulani bowled brilliantly in the second innings to restrict Assam to 123 runs in their 20 overs.

Kerala scored just 118 runs in their innings batting first losing 9 wickets. Besides Sanju Samson, no other batsman helped the youngster a lot. Rain interrupted play and it set a 44-run target in 7 overs, which isn’t pretty hard to get. But some excellent bowling from Kerala saw them win the game by 1 run and stay relevant in the race for the next stage.

Karnataka continue their winning spree, registering a thumping 35-run win against Goa. Pavan Deshpande scored a half-century for Karnataka, who put up 172 runs batting first. Heramb Parab picked a five-fer for Goa. Shreyas Gopal did a stunning job with the ball as they restricted Goa to 137 runs before bowling them out.
