England have been doing exceptionally well in the ongoing T20 World Cup in the UAE. They have won all their four matches so far and have more or less secured their place in the semi-finals. But they have now been dealt with a huge blow as the left-arm pacer Tymal Mills has been ruled out of the tournament with a strain in his right thigh. Another left-arm pacer Reece Topley who is a traveling reserve has been added to the squad.

Mills featured in all the four matches for England in the tournament and fared decently well. He picked up seven wickets and the skipper Eoin Morgan introduced him into the attack after the 10th over in almost every game. An economy of 8 proves he was expensive at times but also picked wickets at the same time.

England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed the news of him getting ruled out in a press release. “Mills sustained the injury bowling in the T20 World Cup Super 12s match against Sri Lanka on Monday in Sharjah. Results of the scan on Tuesday night revealed the extent of the injury,” part of the release read.

Will Topley get a chance?

Having traveled as a reserve, England management must have got the fair idea of how Reece Topley is bowling in the nets. He is a like-for-like replacement for Tymal Mills and it remains to be seen Morgan decides to bring him into the playing XI straight away. A left-arm seamer always brings a variety to the attack and one won’t be surprised if Topley plays against South Africa in England’s final league game.

England have three more pacers to go with in their squad. Rather one of them is a left-arm pacer in David Willey and even he might get a chance. Mark Wood and Tom Curran are the other two bowlers who have under the injury cloud during the tournament as well. However, their services haven’t been needed with the team playing so well so far.
