Two sides that have not had an ideal start to their respective campaigns in the Super 12 stages of the 2021 edition of the T20 World Cup will take on each other in the 23rd encounter of the tournament on 29th October 2021.
Both West Indies and Bangladesh have experienced defeat in both matches that they have played in the Super 12 stages, and are occupying the last 2 places in the points table in Group 1. The West Indies were annihilated in their first match against England.
The entire West Indian innings lasted just 14.2 overs, and the Kieron Pollard-led outfit was bowled out for just 55. The England side swatted aside their opposition and won the match with 6 wickets to spare.
In their second match against South Africa, the West Indies put up a better show with the bat. The defending champions scored 143/8, but the South African side was too good for them. The Temba Bavuma led side won the match comfortably with 8 wickets intact.
As far as Bangladesh is concerned, the Mahmudullah led outfit went down in their first match of the Super 12 stages against Sri Lanka. With the bat, the Bangladesh side posted a good total of 171/4 on the board, but Charith Asalanka’s magical 49-ball 80* allowed the Lankans to beat the Bangladeshi Tigers.
And, in their second match against England, the Bangladesh outfit was simply blown away. The Bangladeshi Tigers struggled their way to 124/9, with Mushfiqur Rahim top-scoring with 29. But then, Jason Roy came out and smashed the Bangladesh bowling attack to a pulp, scoring a murderous 61 off just 38 deliveries as England won the match with 8 wickets in the kitty.
Both Bangladesh and West Indies are desperately looking to break their duck, and open their account in the Super 12 stages of the competition. Which team will outsmart the other, and avoid a hat trick of defeats in the Super 12 stages?
Pitch and Conditions
Win the toss and chase. Well, that is what the captains of both sides might be thinking. 4 out of the 5 matches on this pitch have been won by the side chasing. The spinners will get some grip on this surface, and the batsmen will have to be a little patient on this surface to emerge successful.
Playing Combinations for West Indies and Bangladesh
West Indies
In spite of losses in both their Super 12 matches, the West Indies are not expected to make sweeping changes to their playing XI. Also, Obed McCoy has been ruled out of the tournament due to a leg injury as well. Predicted XI: Lendl Simmons, Evin Lewis, Nicholas Pooran (WK), Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard (C), Andre Russell, Shimron Hetmyer, Dwayne Bravo, Hayden Walsh, Akeal Hosein, Ravi Rampaul

Bangladesh too, might not indulge in chopping and changing their side for the encounter against the West Indies. They are also likely to stick to the same playing XI from their previous encounter.
Predicted XI: Mohammad Naim, Liton Das, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah (C), Afif Hossain, Nurul Hasan (WK), Mahedi Hasan, Shoriful Islam, Nasum Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman
