In a nail-biting thriller, South Africa beat England by 10 runs to post their 4th win in the Super 12 stages of the 2021 T20 World Cup. Even though the England batsmen put up a good fight, the target of 189 proved to be beyond their reach.

Moeen Ali top-scored for the England side with a 27-ball 37, while Liam Livingstone plundered a quickfire 28 off 17 deliveries, as England ended up with a total of 179/8 in their allotted 20 overs. With the ball, Kagiso Rabada scalped a hat trick, while Tabraiz Shamsi and Dwaine Pretorius picked up 2 wickets each.

Rassie van der Dussen’s blistering 94* off just 60 deliveries and a superb 52* at a strike rate of over 200 from Aiden Markram helped South Africa post a huge total of 189/2 on the board. The duo of van der Dussen and Markram put on a partnership of 103 runs and piled the misery on the England bowlers.

Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid picked up one wicket each for the England side. In spite of this win, South Africa are out of the tournament and are placed at the third spot, while England consolidate their position at the top of the points table and qualify for the semi-finals.

Australia thrash West Indies by 8 wickets

Australia produced a dominating performance and thrashed the West Indies side by 8 wickets. Batting first, the West Indian outfit posted a total of 157/7 on the board. Skipper Kieron Pollard led from the front and scored a 31-ball 44 for his side. Evin Lewis scored 29 off 26 deliveries.

Josh Hazlewood scalped 4 wickets for the kangaroos with the ball. In reply, David Warner and Mitchell Marsh scored superb half-centuries as Australia made light work of the target. While Warner scored 89* off 56 deliveries, Marsh scored 53, and the kangaroos won the match with 8 wickets in the kitty.

Akeal Hosein and Chris Gayle scalped one wicket each with the ball. With this win, Australia have qualified for the semi-finals and are placed at the second spot, while the West Indies are stationed at the 5th place.
