Namibia scripted history by exuding some great promise in the tournament and advancing to the Super 12s. They then won their first match of the Super 12s against Scotland. It was only the third time the team faced Scotland and they continued their domination against the opposition.

However, the side might have been aware of the challenges they need to face as they march ahead in the mega event. Things wouldn’t be quite easier for them ahead in the tournament. Taking on the challenge against Afghanistan, the team was completely outplayed by the opposition.

Afghanistan’s bowlers yet again chimed in the scenario to fashion the victory for the team. Chasing down the target of 161, Namibia was wrapped up at just 98 runs and lost the match by 62 runs. This time around, it would be furthermore challenging for the side as they take on the in-form Pakistan side.

Here is Namibia’s predicted playing XI for NAM vs PAK Match:

Openers- Craig Williams and Zane Green

The team has been making quite a few changes to their top order. Previously on most occasions, Craig Williams and Zane Green have been opening the innings for Namibia. However, from the last two matches, different batters have accompanied Williams in opening the game.

As the team marches ahead in the high-profile event, they will want their top order to make valuable contributions. Despite the many changes in the batting lineup, the opening pair hasn’t been able to bring impactful performances to the fore.

Though they got to decent starts in the initial matches of the tournament, they couldn’t capitalize on that. With the considerable amount of experience Williams and Zane Green have under their sleeves, they will be determined to perform for the side.

Middle-order – Pikky Ya France, Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton

Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton added 14 runs to the team’s account in the previous game against Afghanistan. Whereas on the other hand, Pikky Ya France departed with just 3 runs to his name. Namibia’s batting unit struggled to provide any sort of resistance in the last match as they were wrapped up early on whilst chasing a total of 161.

Though the side won the match against Scotland, the batters had to dig deep to chase the target. Heading into the crucial encounters ahead, they will want their batting unit to bounce back stronger.

All-rounders- Gerhard Erasmus, David Wiese, Michael van Lingen, Jan Frylinck

This department has been the strength of Namibia in the tournament so far. The team’s all-rounders have put up some spirited show at the display to help the team secure victories. Skipper Gerhard Erasmus looked in fine touch with the bat in the initial part of the mega event.

However, more so recently he has struggled a tad bit to chip in big runs. He will be determined to gain the scoring momentum. David Wiese has been exceptional for the side so far.

He has starred for the team with both the bat and the ball and has looked in good form so far. He scored a valuable 26 runs in the previous game to hold the fort of the side. Jan Frylinck on the other hand is also one of the key players of the side and will aim to punch above his weight to make an impact on the side.

Bowlers- Bernard Scholtz, Ruben Trumpelmann, JJ Smit

Ruben Trumpelmann impressed with his clinal display with the ball in the match against Scotland. He picked up three wickets in the match at a healthy economy rate of 4.25. Against Afghanistan as well, he exuded his flair by clinching two pivotal wickets for the side.

Whereas JJ Smit comes in pretty handy with his all-rounder abilities. In the match against Scotland, he scalped a wicket and scored 32 runs. In the previous game against the Mohammad Nabi-led side as well, he picked up a wicket but couldn’t contribute much with the willow. The team will also pin a lot of hopes on Bernard Scholtz considering the experience he has under his sleeves.
