Generally, India is not known to be producing fast bowlers in international cricket. This is due to the nature of the pitches in the country, which has predominantly provided support to the spinners. However, the green cover on the pitches in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has kept the pacers interested with the new as well as the old ball.

Many youngsters and experienced bowlers have proved their abilities to take wickets and put a brake on the opposition batters. With the T20 World Cup 2022 scheduled to be played in Australia later this year, Team India needs bowlers who can use the fast-paced pitches well and can trouble the batters. The likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami are the first-choice picks, and other two-three spots are likely to be filled by other bowlers, who mark their presence on this list.

5 Pacers who are in contention to get picked in India squad for T20 World Cup 2022:

1. Arshdeep Singh

The left-arm pacer, Arshdeep Singh featured for the Indian team in the 2018 U-19 World Cup. Then, he was snapped by the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the 2019 edition of the tournament. He played three matches picking up as many wickets at an economy of 10.90.

In the subsequent season, the youngster improved his performance to pick up nine wickets in eight appearances at an economy of 8.77. The IPL 2021 proved to a breakthrough edition for him, as he bagged 18 wickets in 12 games at an economy of 8.27. This performance helped him to be one of the two retained players of the franchise for the 2022 edition.

In the ongoing season, Singh has picked up only six wickets in 11 games but has a fine economy of 7.79.  He has nailed his yorkers in perfect manner and emerged as the most reliable option for his captain in the death overs. With the right pace and the advantage of being a left-arm pacer, he is certainly a quality option for the selectors.
