T20 World Cup 2026 Teams

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has modified and developed a new version of the T20 World Cup, in which, a total of 20 teams would participate, rather than the usual 16. The idea behind the move is to spread cricket across the globe as the likes of the United States of America, Papua New Guinea, Uganda and Oman among a few others are all set to mark their maiden World Cup appearances.

In the new structure, the teams will be grouped into four, and two teams from respected groups will qualify for the Super 8 stages of the competition. Things will get intense in Super 8 as the top four teams of the T20 World Cup 2024 points table will qualify for the semi-finals of the competition, while the other four teams will have to bid goodbye.

The first semi-final will be taking place at the Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad, while the Providence Stadium in Guyana is slated to host the second one. Kensington Oval in Barbados will be in charge of hosting the final of the marquee competition on June 29, 2024.

As per the T20 World Cup 2024 schedule, the tournament is slated to begin on June 1, with the hosts USA taking on their neighbour Canada. The other host, West Indies would host Papua New Guinea in their first match while defending champions England will play their first match against neighbour Scotland on June 4.

India are set to host Ireland in their first game on June 5 while Pakistan will play their first match against the USA on June 6. The 2021 champions, Australia, are slated to begin their campaign against Oman on the same day.
