Sri Lanka has produced the likes of Muttiah Muralitharan, Chaminda Vaas and Lasith Malinga, all of whom are considered to be amongst the greatest bowlers in the history of ODI cricket. However, their current bowling resources are nowhere near as good as they used to be, and that has been a major reason for their poor performances over the last few years.
WaninduHasaranga is arguably their best bowler in ODI’s at present. The 23-year-old has played 15 games and picked up 17 wickets at a strike rate of 34.2. His economy rate of 5.62 is pretty decent considering the fact that 300+ scores have become quite a common sight these days.
The leg-spinning all-rounder picked up a hat-trick on his ODI debut against <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/afghanistan-vs-zimbabwe-2021-squads-fixtures-timings-broadcasters-live-streaming-and-all-you-need-to-know/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Zimbabwe</a> back in 2017. He is pretty handy with the bat and has the ability to score vital runs in the lower order, and certainly has the potential to become a key player for his country.

<h3>7. Bangladesh – Mustafizur Rahman</h3>

Without a shadow of a doubt, Mustafizur Rahman is already one of the best bowlers to have played for <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/bangladesh-cricketer-nasir-hossain-in-trouble-after-adultery-case-gets-filed-against-him/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Bangladesh.</a> Rahman burst onto the scene in 2015 with a stunning 5 wicket haul against India on his ODI debut, and played a crucial role in securing a memorable series win versus MS Dhoni’s India.
The fast bowler has picked up 115 wickets in just 60 games at a stunning strike rate of 26.2. His economy rate of 5.13 is excellent for someone who predominantly bowls in the powerplay and at the death.
He has a very good yorker up his sleeve and is one of the best exponents of the slower ball at present. The left-armer is already the 6th highest wicket taker for his country in ODI’s and with age on his side, he could potentially end his career as their leading wicket taker in the 50-over format.

<h3>6. Pakistan – Shaheen Afridi</h3>

<a href="https://www.crictracker.com/psl-2021-shaheen-afridi-bowls-a-soul-crushing-yorker-to-dismiss-chris-lynn/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Shaheen</a> Shah Afridi is one of the most talented young bowlers in the world, and his first couple of years in international cricket are a testament to that. At just 20 years of age, Afridi has established himself in the Pakistan team and is arguably one of the best swing bowlers in the world.
He has picked up 45 wickets in just 25 games while conceding at 5.29. His strike rate of 24.5 is excellent and shows his ability to pick up wickets on a regular basis. The left-arm fast bowler has good pace and can also extract good bounce.
The youngster has all the skills that a top-quality fast bowler needs and with the right attitude, he could be on his way to having a very good international career.

<h3>5. South Africa – Kagiso Rabada</h3>

Rabada has gone from strength to strength over the last few years, and his rise to the top has been a meteoric one. He has taken the 4th highest number of wickets since his ODI debut in 2015 and has established himself as a major wicket-taking force in the game.
The 25-year-old has picked up 117 wickets in 75 games at a strike rate of 32.8 and has an exemplary economy rate of just 4.99. With the ability to generate speed in excess of 145 kph with ease, Rabada is one of the fastest bowlers in the modern world.
Like Hasaranga, even Rabada boasts of a hat-trick on <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/india-vs-england-odi-series-in-pune-will-have-no-crowds/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ODI</a> debut and is one of just four players to have achieved this feat. He is already South Africa’s 9th highest wicket taker and with the amount of cricket being played these days, he could break a lot of records.

<h3>4. Australia – Mitchell Starc</h3>

Arguably the best bowler in the world when on form, Mitch Starc is someone who has the ability to strike fear into the <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/ipl-2021-team-wise-one-batsman-who-might-be-benched-for-whole-season/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">batsman’s</a> mind. He has been a pretty reliable and consistent performer for Australia over the years.
With 184 wickets in 96 games at a strike rate of 26.8, Starc’s stats speak for themselves. His economy rate of 5.18 is excellent for someone who operates during the difficult overs. The Australian’s strike rate of 26.8 is the best among all bowlers who have picked up more than 150 wickets in ODI’s.
He was the Player of the Tournament in the 2015 World Cup, when he ended the campaign as the highest wicket taker and was once again the top wicket taker in the most recent edition, showing his ability to perform under pressure.

<h3>3. New Zealand – Trent Boult</h3>

Trent Boult is quite possibly the best swing bowler in the world and has proved himself as one of the most consistent fast bowlers over the last decade. With the ability to swing the ball both ways, Boult has quite the gift.
The 31-year-old has picked up 164 wickets in 90 games while conceding at 5.03. His strike rate of 30.1 is very good, and a <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/new-zealand-vs-australia-fourth-t20i-shifted-from-auckland-to-wellington-after-new-covid-19-cases/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">New Zealand</a> team without him is just unimaginable.
The Kiwi’s bowling partnership with Tim Southee was quite brilliant and will be remembered as one of the better ones from this generation. The left-arm fast bowler is currently ranked as the No.1 bowler in the 50-over format by ICC.

<h3>2. India – Jasprit Bumrah</h3>

<a href="https://www.crictracker.com/jasprit-bumrah-said-im-getting-workload-management-while-playing-the-game-virat-kohli/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Jasprit Bumrah</a> has been quite a revelation for the Indian team ever since he made his debut against Australia in 2016. His unorthodox action makes it difficult for the batsmen to read him, and he uses it to his advantage. With good pace and wide range of skills, he is a constant threat for opposition batsmen.
The Gujarat-born pacer has played 67 matches and picked up 108 wickets at a strike rate of 32.6. His economy rate of 4.65 is quite remarkable given the big scores that we are so used to seeing at present.
He has the best yorker in the game and his ability to be able to bowl 6 yorkers in the same over is unparalleled. If he continues performing like this, he is surely going to establish himself as one of India’s best fast bowlers of all time.

<h3>1. England – Chris Woakes</h3>

Chris Woakes’ inclusion ahead of Jofra Archer might surprise a few of you, but it really shouldn’t given his performances over the last few years. The Englishman has been the leader of the attack for quite some time now. He is very effective with the new ball and his death bowling has also improved in recent times.
Woakes has picked up 149 wickets in 104 matches at a strike rate of 32.8 and has a pretty good economy rate of 5.54. The all-rounder is England’s 6th highest wicket taker at present and by the time he retires, he could have potentially broken into the top 3.
The 31-year-old is ranked 5th in the <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/michael-vaughan-slams-toothless-icc-for-allowing-india-to-produce-whatever-they-wish/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ICC</a> ODI rankings for bowlers and 3rd in the rankings for all-rounders, showing how good he is. Woakes is arguably one of the most underrated cricketers at present and one can only hope that his efforts are given more recognition.
