The David Warner-led Sunrisers Hyderabad have been scratchy in IPL 2020. At times the team has played good cricket, but in between, they have also been poor with their skills. And that’s the reason why they are stationed in the middle of the points table. So now if they want to make it to the next stage, then they have to stitch up more wins in the second half of the season.

The loss of Bhuvneshwar Kumar is certainly affecting the team. Apart from that, another headache for them is their inconsistent batting unit. Though the likes of Manish Pandey and Priyam Garg have scored runs, they have not been consistent enough for the team. The latter can be excused, as he is playing his first season, but the former cannot be defended for such mistakes.

Pandey is an experienced campaigner. Time and again, he has played the anchor role for different franchises in IPL. It is one of the reasons why the Hyderabad team shelled 11 crores for him in the 2018 auctions. Sadly, Pandey hasn’t been able to live to the expectations as he has been dishing out mediocre performances far too many times for the team’s liking.

It is also evident from his outings in this year’s IPL. He has got starts in most of the games but has failed to convert even one of them into a match-winning knock. Moreover, he has thrown away his wicket and has left the team high and dry on a couple of occasions. Pandey should be more responsible if he wants to stay true to his price tag. Otherwise, the franchise should consider reducing the value of his contract at the end of the season.
