By hammering the Kolkata Knight Riders, the Royal Challengers Bangalore has continued their surge in IPL 2020. The team is looking more settled than ever. They have all the bases covered with a well-rounded side. Besides, it is heartening to see them in the top half of the points table. And finally, it seems that the franchise has found a playing XI that is capable of winning a championship.

As expected, their batting has been carried by the superstars, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. But what has really made the difference is their bowling unit, which is delivering on its promise. The fast-bowlers and as well as the spinners have been equally impressive. It wasn’t the case when the team started their campaign as one of their senior bowlers, Umesh Yadav, didn’t stand up for the team.

Yadav played two games, and in both, he proved to be a liability for the side. He went for plenty, even when he bowled his spells in the middle-overs. To be precise, his economy read 11.86, which doesn’t suit an international bowler of his quality. So after signing a contract worth 4.2 crores, now he will be warming the benches for the rest of the season.

The Vidarbha cricketer has been a regular feature of this league and has always got elusive IPL contracts. However, he has never been able to translate that into his performances. Very often, one can see Yadav crumble under pressure and cost his team dearly. It means it is time that the RCB franchise should take a harsh call of slashing his current salary, which might fire him to perform better.
