Lockie Ferguson had joined the KKR side in 2019 and so far he has been an underutilized proposition. Since the franchise does face an ordeal with its four overseas picks along with also having Pat Cummins as their primary overseas pacer, barely Ferguson then gets an outright chance. In fact, during his three-year stay, the kiwi pacer has only played 10 games and has in total grabbed 8 wickets at an economy of around 9.

Although now in the absence of Pat Cummins, Ferguson can become the team’s first choice overseas seamer, still, his overall chances do remain grim of getting retained. This is because the likes of Andre Russell will first fetch a retention contract followed by the likelihood of Shubman Gill or maybe Nitish Rana’s continuation. Some might even still vouch for veteran Sunil Narine’s retention but eventually, the likes of Varun Chakravarty might be ahead of him if a spinner has to be retained.

Hence, if the KKR side qualifies for the playoffs then even captain Morgan might come in contention but overall for Ferguson, the remainder of IPL 2021 can be his last stint in the purple army.
