In the past few months if there is one cricketer who has climbed the ladder of success upwards then it has surely got to be Pakistan fast bowler Hasan Ali. Since coming back into the national team, Ali has picked up 26 wickets in just four Tests and has bounced back in style after being dropped previously from the squad.

Although he has troubled a lot of batters with his skiddy action, it is Rohit Sharma whom the right-arm bowler feels is the toughest to bowl at. India’s right-handed opener Sharma is a prolific run-scorer across formats and his ability to play the ball late makes him the most difficult batter to bowl at.

In a chat with Cricwick, Ali too rates India’s limited-overs vice-captain highly and feels he can really smack you when you have an off the day.

“The batsman who I believe can give me tough time is Rohit Sharma and we saw that in the Asia Cup [2018] and World Cup [2019]. Although, in the Champions Trophy [2017], I didn’t get much of a chance to bowl at him. If its Rohit Sharma’s day, he can hurt you really hard and he troubles me. He has a lot of potential and can hit you anywhere. He plays the ball late and in the line of the delivery, especially his pick-up shots, which is not easy. Not every player can play such shots but Rohit has that ability.”

For now, Ali has not got to worry about bowling to Sharma, as the right-arm pacer will soon be seen in action in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) representing Islamabad United. The 26-year-old pacer would look to continue his good form and help United win the trophy.

After the PSL, Pakistan are set to embark on a tour to England where they will three ODIs and three T20Is starting July 8. The tour will give a fair idea to the Pakistani management on who they can try for a long-term purpose. Also, Ali’s crucial contribution lower down the order could prove beneficial for the team, especially in T20 format. The 26-year-old’s newfound vigor has given Pakistan team a much-needed boost in the pace bowling department.
